The Effect of Conventional Lumbar Spine Surgery on the Lumbar Multifidus Fat Infiltration

Aims: Low back pain is considered as a common problem that affects most adults at least once in their lives. Almost 90% of people experience during lifetime. The total cost treating chronic low the United States estimated more than $ 100 billion annually. Hence, present study aimed to investigate effect lumbar spine surgery on multifidus fat infiltration patients referred Imam Reza Hospital 2020.
 Study Design: Prospective study.
 Place and Duration Study: Department Neurosurgery, AJA University Medical Sciences (AJAUMS), Imam-Reza Hospital, Tehran between January 2020 2021.
 Methodology: In prospective study, with disk herniation or canal stenosis neurosurgery clinic underwent were enrolled. After six months, they lumbosacral MRI again. Multifidus muscles primary sixth month compared L4-L5 L5-S1 levels changes recorded.
 Results: A number 288 enrolled period. Based results, moderate (grade II) have had highest frequency amongst patients, 52% state terms adipose tissue muscle postoperatively.
 Conclusion: Increased postoperative period was high can be cause disability severe after surgery. Due atrophy months post-surgery owing intraoperative injuries consequently movement restriction, some exercises physical therapy suggested correct patterns further reduce patients.
